SERVICE RIFLE - MATCH 1

Distance:                 200 metres (yards)

Position:                  Prone

Number of shots:   Two sighting and seven on score.

Target:                     1.2 metre screen with Fig 12/59 Type "C" centred.

Type of fire:             Deliberate.

Rate of fire:              One shot per each 45 second exposure, each hit will be indicated.

HPS:                         35.

PROCEDURE:

a. Competitors are to be squadded two or three to a target. They are to fire shot for shot in turn, commencing with the right hand firer on each target. All firers are to take up their positions with the right hand firer to the right of the number peg, the centre firer at the number peg and the left hand firer to the left of the number peg.

b. Competitors are to score for each other.

c. Each shot will be indicated.

d. 45 seconds per shot.

e. If a firer has four consecutive misses, he is to stop firing and complete his shoot when the other firers on that target have completed their shoots.

SERVICE RIFLE - MATCH 2

Distance:                 200 metres (yards)

Position:                  Sitting, kneeling or squatting.

Number of shots:    Two sighting and ten on score.

Target:                     1   x 12/59.

Type of fire:             Snap shooting x ten exposures over a two metre frontage.

Rate of fire:             ONE SHOT ONLY at each exposure of 3 seconds each.

HPS:                         50.

PROCEDURE:

1. The position of each sighting shot is to be indicated by a spotting disc.

2. On completion of sighting shots, targets are to be patched.

3. Firers will remain in the sitting, kneeling or squatting position.

4. Firers will fire one shot only per exposure.

5. Spotting discs are to be shown and scores communicated to the firing point by 2-way radio from the butts.

SERVICE RIFLE - MATCH 3

Distance:                 200 metres (yards)

Position:                  Prone.

Number of Shots:  Two sighting and ten on score.

Target:                     2 x Fig 11/59, spaced 1.5 metres apart centre to centre.

Type of Fire:           Rapid.

Time Limit:             One exposure of 30 seconds.

Rate of Fire:            10 shots to be fired per exposure, with a magazine change during the exposure.

 HPS:                        50.

PROCEDURE:

1. The position of each sighting shot is to be indicated by a spotting disc.

2. On completion of the sighting shots, targets are to be patched.

3. Safety catches are applied and firers are to adopt the standing alert position after the sighting shots. Competitors using the .303 may remain in the prone position prior to the appearance of the targets. 

4. The appearance of the targets is the signal to adopt the prone position and to engage the targets.

5. No more than five hits are to be counted on each target.

6. Spotting discs are to be shown and scores communicated to the firing point.

SERVICE RIFLE - MATCH 4

Distance:                     200 - 100 metres (yards).

Position:                     Standing.

Number of Shots:        No sighters, ten on score.

Target:                         1 x Fig 12/59.

Type of Fire:                Snap Shooting x 10 exposures over a 2 metre frontage.

Rate of Fire:                ONE SHOT ONLY at each exposure of 3 seconds each.

Running Time:             40 seconds

HPS:                             50.

PROCEDURE:

1. Competitors will be ordered to load (DO NOT CYCLE THE ACTION) and adopt the prone position at 200 metres.

2. The appearance of the target for 1 second is the signal to advance to 100 metres. On arrival, firers are to adopt the standing alert position, make ready and engage the Fig 12/59 when it reappears with one shot from the standing position, per exposure. Selector levers may be placed on repetition and may remain so throughout the match.

3. Firers must return to the standing alert position after each exposure.

4. Only one shot may be fired at each exposure.

5. Firers are to return to the 200 metre firing point as soon as firearms have been inspected. Spotting discs will be shown and scores communicated to the firing point as in Match 3.
